It’s overloaded as it is. What use would a bigger one be? Have I ever mentioned before that I hate regular bed pickups?

Here’s a building I hauled off a while back. With a regular bed pickup I could have made 25 trips, totaled the bed, knocked the back window out and unloaded everything by hand. What’s not to love about that?

Yet it doesn't make sense to buy a truck which is too big for my everyday needs, on the outside chance I may get someday get the urge to haul off a building.

I don’t daily drive the 6500. I used to dd my ton dump but I don’t do that anymore either.

A few pages back someone was lamenting that there were only 4 corner tiedowns in the pickup box, I had the same problem. I liked the hooks on my Datsun, but not the way they had a tendency to hook clothing when working over the side. I built some rails for the side of my Toyota with half chain links, contoured to the body lines so they won't hook you. About an inch of the inside angle iron was cut off, I welded studs where it goes through the box and drilled the cut off section so that the bed is sandwiched between 3/16" strips, so it won't distort if you use a come-a-long on it. Bolted on from the bottom so there are no bolt heads on top, the four bigger holes at the front and back have nuts on the backing strip so a ladder rack or other future thing can be added easily. The chain links work great for bungee hooks, and rope cleats.

I would too, but don't have enough work to justify the cost and it could never replace my pickup.

You couldn’t haul 10 tons at a time but what would you loose with a dump bed that a regular bed does better?
