This was me. I had these 38' bar joists stored for years on a clearing elsewhere on my property. I never hit the street but did move them a 1/4 mile to a building that I was using those on.
I was waiting for a friend and his 48' step deck to move them. It was hay season and I didn't want to bother him, so....

I can't believe you would stay behind him. I would put 1000' between me and him, at least. Or get ahead of him....
