Aren't these idiots paranoid about getting busted for unsecured load?
The local dumps fines you for that, doubt the scrap yards do, but I would be a nervous wreck that something fell off and went through a $2000 windshield, for a $20 set of straps.

Customer was probably insistent and the loader probably figured he wasn't paid enough to get yelled at for not doing what the customer wanted.
Personally, I'm amused, but hope the truck didn't go anywhere...
