Reminds me of this old 1/2 HP dinosaur I got from a friend of my Grandfathers. I think the name on the plate is "US Electrical Tool Co.". Looks (and feels) like a jackhammer and takes about 30 seconds to wind down when you turn off the switch. About threw me through the wall first time I turned it on.... Last use was drilling holes in railroad ties for a wall about 40 years ago...

We had a Makita hammer drill that would toss you if you weren't patting attention.

I loaned it to an electrician and told him how to hold it.

He had the 20yr attitude and wouldn't listen to the "Kid" that had drilled about 600 holes with it that week so far.

Well he Fiddled around and found out, when he tucked it under his arm, got a good grip on it while standing on top of a 6ft ladder.

He caught the bit and it flipped him off the ladder.

He was on his back looking up with me looking down at him saying "Now I told you not to hold it like that!!!"

I actually had one of those, but a slightly older version of it, from my Grandfather. I'm guessing mine was older anyway, as it had two threaded pipe handles instead of one cast trigger handle like yours, which I believe were OEM, as they were nicely machined and knurled shorties. The reason I kept the one I photo'd above, instead of this version, was that my grandfather's had a toggle switch. As in on/off, not momentary, click-click toggle switch.

One time the thing grabbed during use, and I'd have broke both wrists if it hadn't tossed me. Thanks to the toggle switch, it started just cork-screwing the long power cord, until I managed to get it unplugged. After that, I replaced the bang/bang switch with a momentary, but it was kind of a hokey setup.

The Craftsman Industrial unit I photo'd above has a standard modern regular trigger pull with thumb lock button, albeit single speed only.

I almost never use these big drills anymore, in fact I think this week was the first time I'd used that big Craftsman since moving 13 years ago. I have a modern Milwaukee hammer drill that is infinitely faster and lighter, for 99% of my masonry-drilling needs.

I still have my Dad's Montgomery Ward heavy 1/2" drill, works great. Probably bought in the 50's. I bought a Sears 1/2" in

the 70's, but quit on me in the 90's. I rarely use the drill, but nice to have one.

By eliminating that one bolt, it saved them $3.
Well, M33x3 of 180mm long, 10.9 quality, isnt exactly a 3 dollar bolt.
56 bolts set you back 800 dollars easily.

168 pieces of M39x280 on the largest demolition excavator we built, weigh 1500kg together and cost 5000 euro.

The pintle hook is a handy place to put the slack tail of the chain.

I wonder how much the trailer flexes at a RR crossing or pothole.
