pacerron; Do you make preserves or jams with the grapes, or just can the juice?


Just juice this year. My wife is picking grapes for another batch right now.
The juice extractor/steamer saves a lot of time and work since no "gushing/crushing the grapes between your toes" is needed, no overnight refrigeration, and no final filtering.
Just wash them, steam them, fill the jars, and do a hot water bath to seal the lids.

These are the pepper rings that Margie made today. One of them is mostly sweet banana with just a few jalapeno added for flavor. The other light one is sweet banana, with a few more jalapeno. One is a mix of red Marconi with sweet banana and a few jalapeno. I had ask for some milder ones. There was a smaller jar of banana and Marconi with only one slice of jalapeno, but I ate most of it at supper.

I've had venison butchered/frozen for years. This year, I asked my wife for a canner and jars for my birthday, and after taking a small buck this fall, decided to can it. Results, as they say, are in the can! Delicious!!

I never knew venison could be canned. Glad it was delicious.
