In fact there are spontaneous failures with safety glass all the time. It may not have happened to you but I've had several failures with no attributable reason. On the flip I've also had glass with what should be terminal chips or cracks hold fast. I've always considered safety glass a mercurial substance it definitely has it's own mind when it comes to when and how it will fail. The only constant I've found is that when it finally does fail it does so in the safest manner possible, as your pictures attest.
As to your other failure, it's a good lessen for all of us. It would seem that ten minutes and a couple of wrenches will save a ton of heartbreak. It’s a lessen I’ve learned the hard way in the past and one that occasionally needs refreshing. (At least with me. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif ) Thanks for posting; it defiantly inspired me to give my machine its due diligence. By the way Rick is my dealer as well and I know what you mean about him going out of his way…….. I had an issue with a PTO shaft that was cut too short. He fixed me up in no time and with a smile to boot. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
