Shelf life for oil?

I've been storing gallon and quart containers of oil and hydro fluid in an old grainary for 15 years and it's full of mice, but they have never tried to chew any plastic up. You should be able to filter your hydro oil, I'd use a big flour sifter for that purpose, and any decent tractor will have several filters for the hydraulic system.

I still have a few of those round quart cans of oil (remember those) you used a push in spout to open, they date from about 1990, no way am I going to use them in one of our vehicles, but for mowers and tillers, yes. Of course, the engines on my equipment were made about the same period so I'm sure they will be fine. I have never noticed any separation of the oil in those cans.

I changed the oil on the Bota last week and noticed that old pour spout buried in the bottom of my tool box. Thought to myself, what am I keeping this for? Its been along time since seeing a can of oil.

I found six old cans of Valvoline the other day. Shook em up some and opened one, used it for the chain saw. John

The old round oil containers are fast becoming collector items for gas and oil buffs The all metal cans are commanding high prices especially if the are a little known brand.
