Shelf life of coolant?

Back about 1995 I stocked up on the older type of antifreeze (green type Prestone) and still have several gallons with the seals intact, the jugs have never been opened. Does anyone know if such sealed antifreeze will still be usable without any problems? I am planning to use it in my JD engine and '93 Cutlass if it is still good. Thanks for any imput.

I would do a litmus test.

If its not mixed yet I can't see it going bad whatever that is. They still sell green antifreeze.

Thanks for the very informational link...I was mainly concerned about the various additives antifreeze contains.

Have a couple of unopened gallons of new fotmula Dex cool (Ethylene glyvol) on tne shelf. If it is sealed, and unopened, it will be fine.

Propylene Glycol is the stuff to avoid.
