At the Empire Farm Days booth of Shell, I had stopped to see their large display… I met a neighbor that lives down the road about 2 miles… he’s the New York Shell rep… /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Anyhow, he gave me a ¾ gallon jug of Rotella DFA and told me to give it a try and to let him know what I think of it… So in the next week or so, I’ll add it to my tank (have enough for treatment of 300 gallons of fuel oil) and see what the claims are all about…
The Shell DFA (diesel fuel additive) is suppose to increase the cetane # up to 3 points, cleans injectors, prevents gelling down to -40 degrees (F), disperses small amounts of water from the fuel, improves cold starting, increased power, lower noise, reduces emissions, increased fuel economy, lowers soot level, lubricates fuel system and a number of other things… (see website for fine details /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)
I’m not one that uses any additives, and I’ve always cut my fuel with kerosene in the winter for anti-gelling… so this should be an interesting test for me… of course nothing scientific… just a “seat-of-the-pants” observation from yours truly… /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Shell ROTELLA® DFA
“Shell Rotella® DFA is an all-season diesel fuel additive with advanced additive technology specifically designed for today’s high performance, fuel-efficient, low-emission diesel engines. Using Rotella DFA regularly will help clean-up fuel injectors and other vital engine parts and it provides all season performance by preventing gelling down to -40° F. Rotella DFA contains both a special cold flow improver and a de-icer to enhance the low temperature performance of commercial diesel fuel. Rotella DFA is ashless and does not contain chlorine, alcohol or phosphorus.”
