All oils are Dino oils , its a matter of refinement , how long have you ran the amsoil ? I agree with synthetic is step above the other oils , however find it hard to believe one is so much superior than others , i have absolutely no trouble with Amsoil but i would stick with maintenance schedule in manual..

The sole problem I have with Amsoil is what appears to be the multi-layer marketing thing. Because I can't tell if a person's comments are genuine or financially based, I don't trust their answers. Plus, why would I want to pay another markup on a retail priced item I have searched out myself?
Actually it's not a multi layered , you deal directly with Amsoil... it is mostly synthetic although they do have some blended , its a good oil works well as long as you abide by your factory manual...but honestly after being a amsoil dealer i can't see where its any better than any other synthetic oils that my humble opinion...

No axe to grind , said its a good oil , just no better than any other synthetic , original question was about shell HD tractor fluid ...if you don't have a answer than move on to another thread , in retrospect after reading some of the replies i may in fact go with Amsoil

Now the newb derailing the thread about hydraulic oil with repeated comments about Amsoil engine oil tells me to move on. That is priceless.
You provide no proof to back up your vague claims. Epic fail. Keep up the fine work. Start another thread if you want to talk amsoil engine oil or bash the brand.
I already gave my opinion on the Rotella tranny/hydro fluid so I won't repeat it. Have a great day trolling.
Just what proof do you have any non API approved is better than an API brand ....just saying, basically according to the CPA there is little different in brands as long as manufacturer recommended weights and service times are followed , what possibly issue could you have with that ?

Unless recently changed the Shell Rotella HD tractor hydraulic fluid sold at walmart and TSC is Donax TD/ Spirax S4 TXM multigrade 10w30 hydraulic fluid. I have been using it in my Kioti for over 10 years with no problems which calls for a Donax TD oil.
Thanks that was the type information I was looking for / 15 years and no issues says a lot , however will ask one last time if anyone knows of a problem with this oil in a LS XR 4040 C appreciate all responses

MY 2 cents on oil... Syn oil are changed at the molecule level. It does not run from heat like normal oil. They do not break down at the lower heat of normal oil.
The main reason to change syn oil is due to contaminates.
The main reason to change normal oil is dues to breakdown of lubrication.
With hyd oil in a tractor you need to consider lubrication. lubrication is good, to much lubrication is bad. Also seals are made of different properties. Some hyd fluids have additives to help seals. Those same additives can hurt some seals.
I use syn in my cars. I use conventional oils in my tractors. Diesel engines contaminate oil more than gasoline engines. I worry about condensation contamination in my tractor hyd.
Most people think their oils are great until their equipment breaks then the reconsider.
I lost 2 pickup truck engines running Pennzoil. I changed oil and have not lost any more engines, (knock on wood).
