A hydro is a simple set-up.....push on one pedal for forward...the one right next to it for reverse. Even though I'm a young feller I know what you mean about "tractor knee"......and I feel sure that my left knee will be the first to give out on me in my older age
Many tractors are powershift (no clutching required to shift between gears but still retain a traditional tranny) and have the option of a shuttle shift feature which is simply a little lever on the left-hand side of the steering column that will allow you to jump from forward to reverse with the flip of the wrist. No pedal pushing required for utility work.
