Thanks for all the pictures and advice. It is good to see what other people are doing. Some of your comments made me think a bit more. I am getting some quotes for stick framing a shed. I might pour a turn down slab with a brick ledge and then frame up off the slab. I have 5000 bricks and would need about 7500 total. I have enough shingle for 1/2 the roof, so it might be less expensive (or no more expensive) for me to stick frame off the slab and then brick the building.

I have already purchased the exterior door and 4 insulated windows (another story), so the only additional big expenses would be the garage door and the boxing. It would take all my budget to get to this point, so insulation and electricity would have to wait until 2013, but I would have a nice dry place to store my equipment and tools.

The concrete and labor to pour the slab will probably be the biggest out of pocket expense. OSB is also at its highest price in many years, so that is an additional concern. I will work through the numbers and see how everything shakes out. Thanks again for all the advice.

.... OSB is also at its highest price in many years, so that is an additional concern. ......

I feel your pain here. When I designed and speced my barn, OSB was running $3.99 - $4.99 a sheet - this was in 2003. By the time I really started going buying the OSB it had gone up big time. I was happy when I was getting it for less than $17 a sheet. And my wife wonders why I went over budget?
