Von. In 1988, I had a 1936 Buick delivered to NY from Sonoma California. Chassis, engine and 2/3 of the body and the rest of the car was in boxes. It cost about 1400 USD back then. Remember this too, closed carriers will always cost extra dinero. Make sure you can secure that crew cab for open bed transportation, otherwise by the time you get it, you might try and send it back.

My vendor was Horseless Carriage. They're nationwide and specialize in transporting show cars.

What needs to happen here is somehow find a hauler who's got half a load coming out east. This can be hard to do but can be done as long as it's on THEIR timeframe. Lot's of phone calls.

This is gonna take either the bigger cash or some serendipitous timing.

Keep us posted. BTW, the pic is quite flattering. We're planning to get rid of the "Pond Aqua" finish paint though, right?

I almost started another thread to live through Von vicariously but I'll just stick it in here.

WHAT COLOR SHOULD THAT NEW UNI BE????? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Von will certainly paint to his tastes, but I see it looking particuarly smart in a nice slate gray color - with a matte finish.

DAP,
What, you don't like the FLORIDA GREEN?? I am thinking of a two tone with a metallic burnt orange like a lot of the cars today, and a silver. (got to be in style right!) Or a light metallic pearl green. I will have to wait and see when I get that far. I first have to find the extra $$$ to buy the cab. (Any donations will be accepted/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) I will be sure to post photos.

Ah, yes ... that Nissan Murano Copper?

Seriously, I would paint this guy a color that contributes to it's function. If I were to see a metal-flake painted UNI I would gasp.

Unfortunately for me, and fortunately for you, YOU happen to be the owner! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Which leads me to the next question Von. What exactly are you planning to do/use with this beaut once its done?

Are you gonna work it? Off road it? Grocer it? Sell it? All of the above? Drive it back and forth passed Henro's driveway?

Oh man.

DAP,

Ah, yes ... that Nissan Murano Copper?
THATS THE COLOR!!!
What I really want to do is make it a van like this one attached! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I just talked to the owner in NH last night, he is taking some detailed photos of it today for me. I'll see how hard it will be to do, and go from there! First have to find the $$ thou.

Oh Von ... how very charming a vehicle!

Is the cab from CA a go yet or are continunig your search?

I think I see where you're going with this redo. Thank god you don't live next door. I'd ruin a perfectly good friendship! (The neighbor that WON"T LEAVE.)

Well, I found out a few more things about this cab, or I should say about the owner. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif He is definitely not an honest man. I spoke to the shop that took the thing apart and was told that the bondo was almost an inch thick in spots! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Of course the owner stated that it had no rust or bondo! The shop quoted him between $8-$10k to restore the cab! Seems a bit high to me, but the outright lies are enough to scare me away.

But the good news is a found another crewcab!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif But this one is in England /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif The shipping charges should be about the same and the asking price is only 1/3 of the other one! Yes it has some rust, but at least I know that going in. and will be given detailed photos of that rust before hand. It is from a dealer so that helps. I'll keep you posted!
