I am going to try the pro comp MX-6. It seems to get good reviews.

Robert, I like the airbags for leveling purposes. I have only aired them up to 30 psi one time when pulling a 14K gooseneck from SC to WV. Otherwise I like them for a little extra height. For $300 I am very happy with them. -Keith

I got my procomp MX6 shocks. I put the rears on no problem.

I went to put the fronts on and the replacement shock looks kinda small on the top. It took a 15/16 deep socket to pull the top nut off.

The new shock rubber bushing, etc. is really small in comparison.

I just called the 4wheelparts line to confirm the part number - they say it is correct.

Comments?

Wow!, that's a size difference all right. And they say that's the right part number? I don't know if I'd feel comfortable putting something that much smaller in place of the stock piece. Have you checked out any of the Dodge forums?, maybe some other owners have run into the same issue.

Ok - problem solved.

Mike and James at the 4 Wheel Parts store in Dallas rock.

We replaced the MX6087 shocks with MX6004

Then we used a ProComp 690002 shock mount kit. Stem mount to eyelet.

It is stout now. I will post pics when I get home.

These MX6s sure ride better than the stock ones with 79K miles on them.

I put the blue/yellow Bilsteins on my 2001 3/4 ton Dodge Cummins Diesel 4WD when my OEM shocks wore out. The ride is much better now.

Check out Geno's Garage, they have shocks & other goodies specifically for Dodge Cummins Diesel trucks.

Cool - I looked at Geno's, but decided on the ProComps.

The difference is worth the price of admission.

Years ago someone told me they put shocks on their vehicles almost as soon as they bring them home and I thought that was nuts. Well one day the people at a shocks manufacturer called me and needed my vehicle as a test vehicle to put a set of test shocks on them so I said sure why not because I get to keep the shocks for free.

They treated me almost like a VIP I took a tour on how they make the shocks ans all the is involved.

They put the shocks on and took my vehicle for a test ride 9 fast over deep rail road tracks and pot holes ) they were happy and sent me on my way.

My shocks only had about 1000 miles on them so they were new, but the difference in the ride with the new shocks was night and day. My pick up truck drove like a Cadillac.

During the time they were taking my ("old / new" ) shock off the engineer said the manufactures oat about $6.00 a shock so that's why they only are expected to last a short time.

So I have become one of those shock changers on all my vehicles when they are new.

It's all about the ride. Bilstein is one of the nicest rides out there.
