Shop Manuals For BX2660 Worth It?

I have the shop manual for my B7510 sitting here. It's been handy, but now that the tractor is gone, I'm thinking about selling it to a happy B7510 owner. Then I got to thinking... the manual has offered much piece of mind on my maintenance, although I have never had to dig into it like rebuilding an engine or tranny. I still maintain everything, and unless it's a major warranty item, I'm going to do it myself.

So, I began to wonder if the shop manual for the BX (2660) is worth the $70. I guess piece of mind is worth something, but do any of you have the shop manual for your BX? Is it in depth, or just a basic reiteration of owners manual?

I have the service manual for my BX22. Mine was just over $50 at Messicks. Worth every penny. $70 seems high, call Messicks and see what they get for one.

I too have pondered that question, but everytime I get an idea what i would like to do with the BX, I needed more indepth info then the owners manual provides. Same thing when I mistakingly thought the feul filter underneath was metal when it was a pump, the WSM could've saved me some embarrasment. THE TBN'ers have saved my hide several times with correct info i needed from asking that was right in the WSM. Since its a smaller unit, its something to think about more often.

IMO, the WSM I purchased from Messicks for my BX24 is worth every penny I paid. I think I paid around $60 not including a small shipping fee. Had the manual on my doorstep in two days.

I checked Messicks. They are slightly more than TractorSmart, who is at $72.50.

I need to order the side emblem "BX2660", and Messicks is more, too. Two of the letters are gouged up. How? I don't know. They alone are $24. OUCH! I'd go after the dealer where I bought it, but it's been three weeks since I bought it, and they'll probably deny and damage prior to delivery.

They are must have manuals. I buy workshop manuals for all my cars too.

Ebay sells them. Maybe amazon too.

As a lifelong gearhead who has always used factory (GM) shop manuals to maintain vehicles, I'm somewhat disappointed with my WSM. Perhaps something's lost in translation, but it lacks much of the technical detail I'm used to in my shop manuals.

I agree! GM manuals are excellent as well as Mopar manuals.Actually.Mopar are a little better in my opinion.What's nice is they explain how the system you're working on operates.The information is invaluable!

I bought one, like I always do with any new equipment. Paid the $70. Now I'm a wanna be everthing. And this shop manual looks to be a little more than I can use. But just a few items may more than pay for it in the long run. Note that the engine manual is a separate purchase....which would really be beyond the scope of my ability or tools.
Actually, my dealer offered to photocopy anything from his manual, if I thought I needed the info. He and I joke about who is going to live longer....my Case 448 tractor or me. But a little knee surgery here and a little welding there, and we both are still going strong.
