I have a large I-beam in my shop with a 2 ton chain hoist for heavy overhead lifting, but needed something in middle of the room for small stuff.

The winch is a brake winch with an 800 lb capacity. The wire is 3/16 with 840 lb limit. It made for a fun afternoon project. Now, I just need to use it to get in shape.

Oh, and I, uh, moved my tractor out of the way to put the winch up. There, it's officially a tractor project. :)

That place is too clean to be a legitimate workshop.

Ya, but look in the closet.. :D:D

My brother made some gluelam beams and just ran them through the rafters about 10 or 15 feet. Then hung a huge eye bolt that he puts a hoist on if needed. I think he said he's front of cars off the ground and never had any deflection. He would notice this since his ceiling is finished with sheet rock and has no cracks.

How tall are your side walls Gary?

16 feet. Roof is 3/12 pitch so I get around 22' in the center.

Gary:

Working on the "heavy bag" are we? Built any more trailers lately? BTW what brand is your mill?

Still busy in telecom?

Cheers.

Hey Glenn, how you been?

The mill is a cheap import "Enco", but it has served me well. There isn't a week that goes by without me using it.

Telecom is still my day job and I did refurbish an old open frame trailer into a landscaping trailer last year. I guess I should post it in the trailers section.
