I'm doing just great. The recent cut backs due to the economy has effected me though. The result was they cut back the amount of my travel. Colour me sad.....NOT. Now I have to work from home. It's my dream job.
YOU HAVE A VEHICLE HOIST IN YOUR SHOP ALSO?? WELL COLOUR ME JEALOUS!! Read that as envious.....In my next life I want to come back as Gary Davis.....Hee Hee. Your shop just keeps amazing me....as does your skill and craftmanship.
I really like the work you did on the trailer. I'd like to see pictures of it decked out.
Where do you do your painting. I have to paint outside so I have to wait til the wind here dies down to paint the dove tail trailer I just finished reflooring.

All the best.
Glenn.

Unless it's really small, I paint outside also. Of course, the temperature and wind have to cooperate. But I'm not painting show cars!

The lift has its uses. More for fixing things I break around the farm than working on cars!

I have a HF shop crane with a 1 ton chain hoist. Not quite as handy as the lift but just the same for picking up the 8 foot shredder to sharpen the blades it can't be beat. I'm just welding up a manlift for my FEL. I'll post some pictures in the next few days. Way too windy to paint though. I've got big tree limbs to knock off before the hurt someone and a front gate for the wife to paint. It's over 15 feet high but with the manlift (or rather wife lift) it won't be bad.

I had the guy who built my shop put a 12" I-beam across the ceiling in my welding room which is about 25' wide. I've got a 20' 2-ton chain hoist and trolley mounted on it that just reaches the floor. I use it for picking up heavy stuff that I'm welding on like gates, pallet forks, etc. Sure comes in handy. So now I have that, the auto lift and the light weight winch. Each one has its use.

I like your idea of a shop crane for it's portability around the shop. Hum, one more lifting thingy to add to the arsenal.

Right now I'm using the front portion of my barn as my shop. It only has a 14 foot ceiling and a small front area that is 30 feet X 25. A two stall wash bay, the bathroom and tack room all take up a part of that so it gets a little squishy, so the shop crane is a must. For larger pieces like pipe fence corners etc I use the alley way in the rear that runs down between the box stalls. I couldn't have built these sections without the crane. Not only heavy but unweildy. Sure glad I bought it.

When it quits raining I"ll be out painting the manlift.

One word - PICTURES! Post some when you get a chance. Love to see other people's shops and setups.

Ok let's see if I can get some pictures here. Here's the chop saw project I've had going for a while. It is stalled because it is being used for a couple other projects that have taken priority.

Now, how do I get this thing to stop going to photobucket to show it? I just want it to expand right from TBN.

Cheers.
Glenn.

Ok, I'm trying this a different way. Here's a picture of my shop crane with Buddy, my tractor. The grapple on the front I bought off ebay and extensively modified it as you can see. I have a 5 inch channel welded to the top of the bucket and I got a little carried away when I was working with the grapple and bent the top mount. I cut the top of the channel off and welded in a piece of 1/2 plate. It doesn't bend any more. It too need painting as soon as the rain and cold weather up here stops.

I'll get some close ups of the grapple if anyone is interested.
