"Don't forget to check out the weight. Going uphill while trying to lift a cutter that is too heavy can lead to a crash course in learning to steer with turn brakes"

If you've got a loader on..this isn't an issue. However, I keep the RFM or cutter on the ground if I'm driving upslope (or downslope, for that matter). About the only time ether implement is raised in transport position is if I'm on pavement of any kind.

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

pemad,
What type of mods did you have to make to get it to work with your BX? Do you have any pictures?

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

Sorry no pictures. What I had to do is move the pins down to the bottom bolt holes that are on the cutter. This required to drill the holes a little bigger. I used a 7/8th inch drill bit. The pins also need to be pointing inwards in order for it to attach to the BX.

I found the information on other posts and followed there idea. The 4' King Kutter works fine on the BX2200 once you make the modification. Do a search on the discussion forum for BX and King Kutter and you should find many posts.

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

The only issue with the Fred Cain Agri-Cutter and the BX was the shaft length. After shortening the shaft, it works beautifully.

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

My setup too, an Agri-Cutter 104. I think it cost only $500.
I think the Bush Hog in the same class was $150 more. The AC-104 uses the same blades and gear box as the Bush Hog.

Where do I find agri-cutter products? Are they the basically the same as king kutter?

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

They are their own company and not an exact copy of anybody's implements. I think they are located in central Ky.
I don't have any contact info handy, but I'll try to find some.

Sweet's sell them. I typed Fred Cain into Yahoo and got lots of hits on where to buy.

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

I calle dthe dealership where I got the tractor, and they say my NH 1920 will pull a 6' cutter... but I'm thinking more like 5'.. as i mow some heavy brush. For tall brush on 10 acres does a 5' cutter sound right?
I have about the same size tractor (27 hp) and use a 5 footer but would have preferred a 6 footer. As indicated if you get into heavy stuff you always have the option of slowing down or not taking a full bite but you DON"T have the option of cutting a 6 foot path when on lighter stuff! If I had to do it again I'd go with the 6 footer.

Re: shopping for a 4\' rotary cutter

Just for what it is worth, I have done a lot of bush cutting with different rotary mowers. I absolutely would not put a six ft. cutter on a 28.5 hp tractor. If you get into heavy material even tall grass it will load the tractor and will cause premature clutch failure. Just an opinion.
