I was just wondering ,If anyone has noticed the lack of people to assist at wal mart lately? And why..I wanted to purchase a table and chairs and no one was working that dept. so I ended up ringing th lay away bell to not good. I could hear people out there too.:confused2: Finally i asked for the Manager and they said no manager working Sunday.:thumbdown:Finally found a nice pleasant woman to assist me.For which I thanked her for.
Perhaps Im sensitive now a days as i had just came from Home Depot and I tried to remain relaxed even though they wouldnt open the doors untill almost 10 minutes past the open time.(lots of people at the door):confused2: When I got in I went through three people before I found someone who was '' authorized" to cut me some at 5 wire.Unfortunatly he was on the cell phone and after about 8 or so minutes he wouldnt even look like he saw me, and walked off down three aisles..I left and went to Lowes.lol
I just dont get it Wal mart don't have enough people yet thes other stores have lots of people but they can help??
thanks for the rant lol

Back in the olden days when I worked for Furr's Super Markets, Piggly Wiggly built a new store right next door! We kept our business by providing service. We spoke to every customer, make sure they were helped, didn't have to wait in line any longer than necessary; sacked and carried out every order. Management realized that when you sell the same product at the same prices, the only other thing you can offer is service. It does work.

Look at Walmart today; the clerks are disinterested, don't speak to you half the time; even rude; not to mention that you either go through the self help line or wait on a checker. You have to put your order in your basket after it is checked and paid for, carry it out yourself and put the basket away.

You guys must just live in the wrong part of the country. Of course we have lots of Walmarts in this area and I get good service in any of them. Sure, there may be times when an employee is not visible in the department I'm in, but when I find one and ask, a helpful one shows up pretty quickly.

Just to show how different Walmarts are, I went to my store last week mid-morning to the garden department. I picked up several things and wanted to get several bags of mulch and compost from outside. I rang the assistance bell at the register and a clerk came immediately from outside to ring me up. She was pleasant and helpful, offering to come out and help me load out my bags of stuff. I told her I knew where it was and would load it myself just fine if that was okay. The week before I wanted some dried beans and couldn't find them easily. A clerk walked by and I smiled, said good morning (calling her by the name on her tag), and asked where the dried beans were. She told me aisle 9 as quick as a wink.

It just goes to show that two stores can have completely different customer service levels. I know some stores are poor, but that goes for any chain store or big box store. Some are great and some you want to avoid at all cost. I'm very lucky to have clean, helpful, smiling people at our local store. I know how special that is and make sure I am also cheerful and pleasant with them. That's especially true at our local TSC too. The store near me is full of pleasant people. The store 20 miles away is not so helpful.

I was in a older Walmart in Stillwater Ok. last Thanksgiving & had the best experience in years. Lots of checkers, no lines, friendly folks etc. The ones in Odessa & El Paso are so bad I stopped going to them. Must be a local thing.

Thats it right there, I see ALLOT of walmarts, there is a big difference between rural type stores and "city" stores. You generally get the attitude of the employees in comparison to the attitude of that community. I can almost tell how my visit to the store will be just based on how well the lot and exterior look.

I haven't been many decent Walmarts recently. Oh no - I have to go there today!

Try not going to Walmart, just try it! You WILL have to go there for something sooner or later!:banghead:

My wife tried to buy a crib there recently while she was pregnant, and the clerk in that department was a fat slob who said he couldn't help her carry the large box up to the checkout and to the car -- couldn't leave his counter was the excuse. This after she waited at that same counter, unattended, for 15 minutes and saw him saunter out of the family restroom. Let's just say she was not amused. Luckily, a stockroom worker overheard and offered to wheel it up front and to the car, even though it was not his job.
