Shot my neighbors dog

A good friend who is twice my age told me once that "A man should be able to shoe his own horse and shoot his own dog when it's time"
Same guy gave me an original copy of the book Of Mice and Men. Great by the way. But I know that I will be taking my dog to the vet when it is time. I won't live with that. I'm not knocking anyone who can do that. I just know I don't want that for myself or my dog.
I am a hunter and have had to put plenty of wounded animals out of their misery. I cannot stand to see an animal suffer. I have used up tags to shoot a wounded buck that I wouldn't have normally shot. (A spike). But someone made a bad shot and it was in pain. I will probably get flamed by non or anti hunters. But I know what is the right thing to do. And that is kill quickly.
