I took these PIC from my bedroom window. They were not more than 40' from the house. I have not had any time to hunt this year and no I am not going to shot from my bedroom window unless it is the thirty point buck. I do have food plots and stands in the back. I had my son go open our gate yesterday AM. I saw him chasing some on the Ranger by my shop. It is fun to live in the Country. We had a fishing and fish fry party for one of my sons out here and not all his friends and some of the parents want to come back.

In Indiana with that salt block right there, those deer are as safe as if no hunting season exists. Anything within 300 yards of a salt block is considered attracting and illegal to hunt there. I put them on my property for that reason.

That's a good idea. I think I'll put a salt block out on the back of the property where I live. Last year we had a buck tear up a bunch of lawn furniture on our wrap around porch. I'm guessing he got on the porch and was eating dog food and got spooked. The dog food feeder was knocked over and dog food was everywhere. There is only 1 open entrance without a gate and I guess he coudn't find it fast enough. The porch opens into an enclosed area in the back with a 7' tall privacy fence. I've heard that deer can jump pretty high, but I guess this one didn't want to hop over a seven footer.

I really enjoy seeing them in our yard, but not on the porch. By the looks of the tracks at our lake, we have several different sized deer drinking there at night. Has anyone ever tried to get a picture with a night vision camera? I'm considering getting a night vision scope with a camera adapter, but I don't know if they work well.

Cool pictures by the way! That is the only way that I've shot any deer myself. I'm just too big of an old softie myself. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Where I live, the state does actually open up some of the state parks to thin the herds and there are plenty in other wild areas that need to have deer taken to prevent them from over populating and dying from starvation. I'll just leave a few extra out there for the guys who want to hunt.

Dargo,

Funny thing about deer and dog food. Where my parents live the deer are such a problem eating dog food that they are coming into open garages during the middle of the day to get it. People are afraid to scare them out for fear of the damage they will do the their cars parked in the garage!!!!

I guess I shot a couple of deer today too!

I was at my sister's, and I caught these two walking across the golf green that my sister's yard is alongside.

Apparently you are not so far south that you do not have snow. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Hope Retirement is treating you good. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Eddie, I had a guy who deer hunts tell me that deer won't eat dog food. I definitely don't know, but it sure seems that is what the deer was doing when he was on my porch. Do you, or anyone else, know if deer do eat dog food? It doesn't really matter, I'm still going to feed my dogs, but I'll probably put a salt block by the woods to keep them occupied as much as possible.
