Hi Folks,
My B2920 manual indicates that the ballast in the tires should be removed when using the BH. Anyone know why? Do you folks do that? Is it because of too much wait for the frame? I thought it was best to leave it in for stability / safety reasons.

Mine for the BX24 says the same. I haven't removed it and don't intend to. Dealer says no problem.

It would seem to defeat the concept of a "quick attach" backhoe if you have to drain & refill your tires each time.

there has been a lot of talk about this in the fairly recent past, the consensus is pretty much that lots of folks with BH's load their tires and keep them loaded even with the warnings in the manual, I have loaded turfs on my B3030 and have a lot of BH time on it with no evident ill effects

My dealer loaded my tires and never mentioned a possible issue with the BH....I can't see why it would make much diffrence other than giving you more weight to stabilize the tractor when using the BH.

The key is to not load the tires over 60 - 75% with fluid. This allows the remaining air space to be able to compress somewhat without having the compressed fluid blowing out the tires.

Both my turfs and ag's are loaded and I haven't had a problem yet when I'm working the BH.

Thanks for the advice all. I was contemplating removing some ballast but as EX3200 said, kinda hinders the quick detach/attach. Was concerned with having so much weight on the stabilizers. Do you BH users lift the rears off the ground, or just a little to remove some weight off. Have not had much BH time yet, still tryin' er out. Just saw the post on the bent BH. My wife would be quited pleased with me if that happend this early.
