Should I install a rear pto and 3pt. hitch on my 455?

Re: Rear pto and 3pt. hitch on a 455?

A pto would allow use of a generator up to 12KW . The pto upgrade and kijiji used generator together would cost less than a dedicated 12KW engine driven generator. Nothing like having heat, lights, water, AC , cooking etc while the neighbours shiver or sweat.

good thread and in line with what I'm debating; I have a JD430 with rear PTO, but no 3 point hitch. I just bought a 4' brush hog and was hoping this JD might power it. I can also see getting stuck with these turf tires.

I have a mid mount 60" deck but heavy/long grass will power it out, so I was hoping the brush hog would blast through it.

Also, are there many cat 0 attachments, or can I use Cat 1 with a special pin/collar over the narrow part of pin?

cooper99, did you pull the trigger on this and are you satisfied ? what can/ can't you do ?

That 430 of yours is going to be a 2000 rpm pto unless it's one of the very rare conversions out there. Implements for that are going to be hard to come by. If anyone knows how to go about setting up a 540 rpm on the back, please post it; I could sure use one on my 420.

No I decided not to spend the money; I'll probably just by a used low hour X748 with rear PTO and 3 pt. sometime in the next couple years. It's difficult to tell in pictures, but the X748 is a significantly larger machine than the 455; you can really feel it when you sit in the driver seat. I feel that with the added 4wd, it would be more appropriate than the 455 for any heavy attachments like a 4 ft. rotary cutter, etc.

Hello, I have an x495 that I just bought and need to install a rear PTO. As you know it comes standard with a forward-facing PTO. So far I've not been able to find a kit to install a rear-facing PTO. Can you let me know what you have on yours and what part number that would be? Thanks.

John Perkins

Both are easy installs to do yourself.

I have an X495 with both 3PH and PTO, which I wouldn't be without. The X495 is my only tractor currently, so this probably has a lot to do with it. That said, I have many places a bigger machine just wouldn't get into.

The attachments I use are:
647 rotary hoe.
Grader blade
Multi purpose trailer hitch which is reversible - 50mm ball on one side for regular trailers and a pin on the other side for moving grape bin trailers. This hitch also has slots to hang rear weights for use with the FEL, and the same slots are used to hang forks to shift pallets etc.
Silvan fertiliser spreader.
Regular land plane.
Land plane built with oval 'cutters' for spreading soil and grape marc over grass/pasture for top dressing/fertilising.

John I can't find a part number sorry. I just asked the dealer for the "Rear PTO Kit for my X495" and he delivered it.

Hey guys.... Im new to this ... bought a 455 last summer and really like it.. then bought a 47" snowblower and a used cab. Up here in Minnesota we tend to get serious about snow removal...put the blower on and then it started to snow...you probably heard about it.. got 33 inches before it quit...Oh happy me... that blower is a gem...able to put snow in my brothers yard!! but I digress... I bought a 3 point hitch from Reugg... it will take cat 0 and 1. its well made and fits perfectly...and about half the price of what my dealer wanted...Im hanging some weight from it right now... check it out online...

John,
BM20633, 540 RPM Rear PTO Drive, is the original pto kit for X400/X500 HDGTs, and contains all parts including module AM120840.

BM21914, 540 RPM Rear PTO Drive, is a new sub for BM20633 for X400/X500 HDGTs, X700's before-June 2010 production. If you use this BM, you must order AM120840 Module for the X400 or X500 HDGTs.
