Should I install, at least, a temp gauge?

The temperature gauge on my Yanmar powered JD failed so I added generic gauges. I became concerned because it was never getting over 160F. Come to find out my Yanmar engine has a 160F thermostat and that is the only part number Deere lists for it.

Relatively speaking adding gauges is a low cost addition if it provides you greater comfort in operating your new to you tractor.
A caution is that it is 40 years Japanese tech. Warning lights were common for that we are more use to seeing gauges for today. But realize that most gauges are not mechanical gauges that are on the market.
I have even considered adding 2 gauges to mine (oil pressure and voltage).

You may want to search YM2610D gauge cluster completed thread for a nice looking gauge upgrade.

A working temperature gauge is important on a tractor because they’re prone to getting the radiator plugged with chaff and overheating. The first thing I would do is check the accuracy of the current gauge with an IR thermometer.
