Hello everyone,

Tonight I took the time to take a closer look at the battery in my tractor and found some signs of leakage, at least I think it is.
I took a couple pictures to show you guys to see if this only requires a clean up and the battery should be OK.

This fisrt pictures shows th Positive pole of the battery. The negative pole is much cleaner.

And this where the battery sits. It looks like there is a little bit of damage done by the acid I think... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I would only put that battery back in to take to the dealer if it is still under warrenty. That is not acceptable.

My dealer replaced mine with a Deka 60 maintenance free battery under warrenty. When that leaks or goes bad I will install a Optima unit.

The caps on those batterys just cannot keep the acid inside with all the bumping around a tractor does.

I would not put that battery back in your tractor. Looks like you found the problem in time before serious damage was done. Now go get a new battery, and if your tractor is still under warranty make the dealer pay for it.

See how far you can throw the original battery and maybe get yourself an Optima. You'll only need one because you won't be replacing it for leakage even if you mounted it on its side. I installed one at 50 hours on my blue ride, but they still sell them to folks that own John Deere's too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Don't wait to see if it can get into your radiators. I haven't regretting getting an Optima.

Hello guys,

Thanks for the suggestions! I'm looking to see where I can get an Optima battery around here.
If I'm correct the YellowTop D51 should work to replace to old battery right?

Thanks again!

I see you've got a 4110. Should be the same as my 4100 and that uses a D51. I've got the yellow top and don't regret it. Over 100 hours of hard use and not a trace of acid spill or corrosion.

And with that yellow top, it really looks at home under the hood!
