Hey Rameye, Yea me and my family are O.K.. We were not hit at all. We live about 200 miles west of New Orleans. I am a Paramedic and I get off tomorrow morning and plan on going do what I can to help. We saw winds about 20-30 miles an hr but no rain. That is pitiful for those people. I will see if there is anything I can do to help with the tractor or with the Mule. I have family that is going down there with aluminum boats. Thanks for your concern. I work where Hurricane Audrey hit in 1957. This is all marsh land, approximately 2-3 miles from the gulf coast. The only good thing is this area will recede fast if we get a tidle surge like that. It all drains to the gulf. Please everyone say a special prayer tonight for those involved. The worst is yet to come due to the water contamination.

Big Lug, your neighbors to the east will be in our prayers and thoughts. You are right there are some very tough days ahead. A lot of folks are already headed that way to help. I saw several convoys of power co trucks on the interstate yesterday headed south. There is a lot of other releif work goin on all over this area now. Good Luck. Willie Jones

Thanks Tom. The way us cajuns come together is remarkable. All ya'lls sincerity is appreciated. We had a local Meteorologist sit out and had a fund raiser at an intersection from approximately 5 p.m. till 10 p.m. and he collected about $35,000 in that little bit of time. We all as a Nation have to pull together in the time of need. One story was a family, from the lower southern part of Louisiana lost everything and was having to live out of there truck. They were having to also take care of an Invalent child, when people from the Acadiana area heard of this they continued to bring monetary donations as well as blankets and food, by the time it was over, the people had to turn people away and deny any further donations. This really makes me proud to be from this area. Thanks for all the kindness. Reese Perry

Just wondering how it was goin down there?

FEMA tried to get some of us down there to help today, unfortunately they want us to deploy for a minimum of 30 days.

I couldn't give them thirty days without being in touch with the wife and kids. They wouldn't take me for 7-10 days.

Kinda bummed woulda liked to get my hands dirty....

Boss says he may order a bunch of us down there.. maybe meet up with you in Biloxi anyway.

stay in touch

Me and my family are doing great. My brother-in-law's got back Thursday morning. They were sent home by the governor b/c things were getting out of hand. People trying to overrun there boats and lots of gunfire. They could only do so much but people were getting impatient. I will be going sometime this comig week to relieve some of our co-workers. My wife and her family are baking and cooking for the people in Jennings at a multi-purpose building. This is one of the best ways we could help. We will be taking a few people in and let them stay with us, just to have some feeling of home.People were shooting at the helicopters and ambulances out of anger but this only prolongs things. At the local hosp. here in Cameron Parish we took in about 60 or so people. I'll keep you informed. Take care.

Well I made it home last Sunday night. There were some things I couldn't believe. Very much destruction on the East side of the city and the southeastern outskirts. I tell you what, it makes you feel blessed for what you have. We rescued some elderly Hospice patients out of a Hospice hospital. Most all the people we came up to, in the boats refused to leave there flooded homes, these were the ones in upper stories of apartment buildings and some homes that were 2 story. A trip very well worth it.
