Some of the flowers are pretty small. The one on the right is commonly called "filaree." It supposedly was brought to the US in the fleece of sheep from Europe. Makes great feed for stock, but produces the sharpest pointed seed I have ever seen.

REB...those are some nice shots. I too am facinated by the wildflowers. Everytime we go out west we try to camp near some meadows where we get treated to a large variety of wild flowers to discover.

I was out walking this morning....and our most predominant wild flower growing in my back field right now is the blackeyed susan. A few weeks ago, the wild honeysuckle vine was in bloom, and if you are ever around any....you know you are smelling heaven.

Here's what I have to look at.

It was a beautiful morning here, and I had to take a few minutes to stop and enjoy my wife's flowers. Ever try to get a butterfly to hold still while you take a picture?

I got this shot off of a butterfly and bee both sharing the nectar of a Cone flower.

Here is my wife's first sunflower to pop out.

Hey all of you out there....slow down, take a break... take time to look at the details around you.

Oops, I have spent too much time playing this morning...I need to get to work on the grape arbor.

Enjoy your holiday....

I like that. When I try to get a butterfly, it is usually gone in the delay from the time I press the button on the digital camera until the camera actually records the shot. Once in a while it works, though.

That is a cool shot. All the little plants there are very interesting to look at. I have the same problem, as I have an old Sony digital that uses floppies. It takes forever to cycle for another shot. Anyone who passes thru the arid west, and only sees desert, only need take a few minutes to walk thru it and amazing what is there.
