Wow! 4-5 tons of lime! We can easily use 1-2 tons around here and I thought that was a lot. That manure really is good stuff. I've trucked in several truck loads of horse for the past 2 years. I didn't this year because I messed around and ran out of time. Had this problem last year. Put down rather green manure too close to my planting date, first full week in April, and I ended up having to replant. So I'm going to do the enriching in the fall this year. Give it plenty of time to break down. Keep after those weeds. Mine looks passable, but not nearly as clean as yours. I can tell you really enjoy what you do. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Also, I've been enjoying squash for about two weeks now. Tried my hand at lettuce this year. Planted a little half row back in January, and it came in very strong. That was a hoot. I'll get some pictures of my little spot shortly.

Hey.... I come home from a hard day at work expecting to see some pictures....and nada. I'll take anything....fruit trees, berries, grapes, gardens of any type....good , bad, and ugly. Show me your crop.

Thanks all for compliments. To MossRoad....I love your area and lower Michigan for fruit. One year we took a vacation up your way and ate our way from one fruit stand to another. That was a pleasant trip. Everything from blueberries to bing cherries....not to mention the peaches.....

To John.... The deer are just sitting back waiting. That is my next step... I need to put up some temporary deer fencing. I think they are temporarily pre-occupied with birthing their young right now...but soon will be heading for the garden.

To Don.... I think WeedNPete ....might be WeedNFool.....don't know for sure....

To Gene... You missed a beautiful memorial day weekend here...absolutely perfect weather...around 70, and no humidity....as compared to this last saturday with over 90 deg and a new temp record.

HRS.... you would be proud to know that there are Collard greens growing in my garden. I also planted okra, and some pink eye purple hulls.... but they didn't germinate so well, so had to go back in and fill in the holes this weekend with some black eyed peas. (my wife's grandfather migrated to the limestone mills in Bedford Indiana from Georgia...he was a stonecutter.....thus the southern influence to my garden...). Did I mention that I also planted 50 sweet potato plants this weekend. As a yankee, I thought you only ate those on special occasions...like Thanksgiving and Xmas. My wife taught me otherwise.

OK....waiting for some garden pictures now....send them in!

Mark... those young-ins of your's any good at weeding? Maybe you could rent them out. Haven't been to your state, but I am guessing there is a lot of produce grown there for the city markets to the East....

Last one for now... tomatoes and peppers, yellow raspberries, wild grapes... the tomatoes in the black plastic are doing much better than the ones in bare soil because it heats the ground sooner(tomatoes like that) and holds moisture in.
