Hi Scott,
Well, this is not a traditional outhouse but it is one that we HAVE to use. My property is undeveloped and we currently tent camp on it every other weekend. It is located about 50' from our tents. Here is a far shot if it.

And finally, inside it. You can see the pallets we use to stand on while taking showers on the right. We have one of those sun heated shower bags. It works pretty darn good in the Summer, but lacks in the Winter. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Weekend at the camp, wake up in the morning, put the kettle on, just a quick trip to the outhouse, .. "put the kettle off"..

Gunnar,
You post some of the most beautiful photos. That last one is a gem.

Unfortunately, no photos to post BUT here's something I ran across when I was hiking the Adirondack High Peaks in the early 80's.

Since we hiked on Saturday and had to travel a great distance to get there, we decided to stay at a friends "camp" in Keene, NY so we could get an early start on hiking Sunday. There was no running water since it was mid winter and below zero. I had to use the outside facilities so our host said to use the one in the middle. It seems that he discovered one of the many uses for "closed cell foam". I reluctantly dropped my pants & sat down on the closed cell foam....what a great experience. I could have sat there for 20 minutes if necessary. The closed cell foam was reflecting body heat right back at me.

I would highly recommend anyone in cold climates to try this out as it works wonders.

BTW, closed cell foam can be purchased at Lowe's or HD as "Sill Seal". Apply some rubber cement to the underside and the seat is readily replaceable and will not move on you. This will be one of the nicest additions you can make to your outhouse. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
