shredding pine needle?

I'm looking for a new way to take care of pine needles. I've raked up and burned in the past but was wondering if a shredder could make them nto somekind of garden mulch. Does any one have a good way to deal with this?

If you have lots have you considered balling and selling selling them?

I recently ran some small pine through mine, and the needles pretty much, were not shredded.

I rake mine up with a pull behind dethatcher, and then run over them with the mower deck, and grass collector. They will compost down nicely if mixed well with plenty of green grass clippings.

If you use pine needles for mulch just remember that they will lower the pH of your soil over time.

Man if you had enough to bail up and send to Lowes or Home Depot you would be set. Down here its like gold falling from pine trees. They cant keep the bales in stock during this time of year.
