Shuttle shift?

I just picked up a Millennium T550. The manual says shuttle shift transmission but the details are unclear. Can you really shift from forward to neutral to reverse without the clutch on this thing? I have used shuttle shift on larger equipment and was wondering if it should work the same.

The type you have is a scyncro shuttle and you need to clutch it every time. TYM has only offered a power shuttle the past couple years on the T603, T723, T903 & T1003. With the power shuttle you can shift with out clutching. For the rest you must clutch. The scyncro shuttle is a good basic time tested design that has held up well.

I tried to shuttle it without the clutch last night and I could get it to go but it was hard. I agree, the clutch is needed.
