Shuttle transmission

I am still collecting information re. the 3054 Kioti. I have not found any information explaining the shuttle transmission. I understand that it is excellent when compared to the conventional transmission offered by Kubota on its L3000. Can someone explain how it works? I will really appreciate any help.

Basically it's 2 transmissions in one. The trans that governs the speed and one that only does forward/reverse. The Speed trans is synchro'd meaning you can shift it like a manual trans car, clutch and go. The shuttle(on this particular model) is unsynchro'd meaning you must come to a stop(or be very good at shifting) to go between forward and reverse. This gives you 8speeds forward (4 in hi range-4 in low range) and 8speeds in reverse(same). Reverse is slightly slower than forward.
The trans is a good compromise between a hydro and a conventional gear trans.

The shuttle saves you from having to shift through the gearbox to get to reverse. You simply shift one direction for forward and the other for reverse. This is especially helpful when using a loader or even mowing, since you're not creeping backward in reverse. The rearward speed at approximately the same as the forward speed greatly speeds your work, especially with the loader. It really helps if the shuttle is synchronized so you don't have to come to a complete stop to shift. However, if money is important the 3054 will work fine.
