Just a suggestion - you should work to get a "Castle Doctrine" type law passed in your state. Work with your elected officials, the NRA and/or any local NRA recognized Shooting Clubs. Michigan has had the CCW law for several years, but you were still expected to vacate your house (run away) if an intruder entered. With this new law, your home is again your Castle and you have every right to blow away any intruder, without fear of prosecution - the way it originally was in this country. I believe Florida and Michigan are the only 2 states with this type law. Previously if you shot an intruder you would be charged, your firearm confiscated and would cost you approx. $10,000 to prove your innocence - unless you got a Liberal Jury and they would make you the criminal.
I can sense your frustration, and agree with your desire to do something, but if your state may prosecute you for shooting an intruder, etc. don't jeprodize yourself or your family - call on the State Police or local County Sheriff.
