should have taken a pic of the sedement trap on a cow shed i saw down JDKIDS way!.......it was concrete and wide enough to get a 70hp tractor and loader in it (well two tractors wide), and about 2m deep.......the sediment trap idea is to get the lumps and stones out before spreading on pasture......
we compost with a 7tonne digger and 70hp tractor at home......cleaning up at the feed pad for the cows and silage pit.......man that stuff makes plants grow....lol
my gardening moto........is if i can't do it with a tractor its not worth knowing about!
RCH,
Basicly the way I do it. A have 3 bins, current year, 1 year back and 2 year back. New stuff into current year, turn the 1 year back pile and 2 year back is the pile I use for the garden.
I also use my 3pt tiller to turn and churn up each pile a few times a summer.
Larry,
I just back the tiller up and drop it down into the compost bin and mix up the compost. Pull forward a little
bit. Repeat a couple of times and I have a finely mixed up compost. This also make it easy to use the load to pick up the compost and move to garden. I do end up with a small cup hole where the compost was but I just use that hole as a place to put the next years pile.
