I'm sure the manual requires the initial service at 100 miles or 20 hours whichever comes first and one of the things is the valve clearance check. Our trails close today but the next county has 2 more weeks and I think the boys plan on taking it for a ride tomorrow. 100 miles isn't very far. My wife mentioned the windshield also and she mentioned a roof also (you been talking to her)? As for the winch, did you go Honda or aftermarket (like Warn)?

I have installed a LOT of winches over the years, go aftermarket and save yourself some money. I prefer Superwinch Terra series as they are strong winches and have a lifetime warranty. Price wise they are also reasonable - Amazon.com: Superwinch 114522 Terra 45 ATV & Utility Winch (45lbs/246kg Rating): Automotive
Amazon may not be the best price but I just happened to found it quickly for a sample for you. Their 4500lbs model is around $225 and very solid. I have had two Warns fail over the years and not had a bad Superwinch Terra series. The Warns are also very good but they are overpriced in my opinion.

Looked at honda 700 and polaris ranger 570 today. Drove the polaris. They had last yr model ETX for $8150, $10k for 570. No power steering.

You seem to be following my footsteps! When the Honda dealer told me that the Honda Pioneer 700 on the lot (2016) was $10,200 (the MSRP on the 2017 Pioneer 500 was slightly less but I looked at the only one they had and didn't like the tightness of the cab...hunting boots and clothing in Wisconsin can get a little bulky so I didn't even ask about price), decision was made. The 700 is rather "massive" in appearance though (60" wide vs. 50" and with the roll-cage it sits pretty high). I understand that my son is taking me for a long ride tomorrow. Will have more to say then.

Does your 700 have power steering? I think they said $9500 for 2 seater, $11300 for the 4 seater, not sure which model year. The honda guy was not a sales guy, told me i needed to come back during the week.

The polaris guy was the owner.

Yamaha does have 1,000cc/120 HP/3cylinder motor for it's new hot rod UTV.A bit much for me.

I did not know that. I'll search it. Too much for me also.

I prefer Warn. Two things I look at, line speed and amp draw.

Just some food for thought - May want to look closer at the super winch 4500

Line Pull: 4,500 lbs 178 Amps Motor Draw / 5.5 FPM (1.7 MPM) Line Speed

Warn 4500

PERFORMANCE DATA
Line Pull Line Speed FT./min(M/min.) Motor Current

4500 (2041) 2.9 (0.9) 318.0

I feel for the money you can't beat it. I always used Warns in the past but found these to work a bit better on my last 3 machines.

Try Hatfield and McCoy motor sports in Kentucky a 1000 Honda for 12375 with power steering or that's what they were two weeks ago

Did you ask what the cost of the Polaris would be if they installed the power steering kit? When I was initially shopping I'd thought about buying w/o power steering to see how it was for my wife, knowing that I could install the kit if I felt I needed power steering. Having my Polaris Brutus I'm glad that I do have power steering: I would likely be OK w/o, but for my wife it's obvious (now) that she needs it.

Anyway, I think that in general it's a good idea to get power steering.
