Anybody do side jobs or run a part time business? I did for years. Owned a lawn care company (mowing, fertilizing etc.) for 4-5 years while working evening shift at my regular job. Then started an HVAC/electrical service in 1994 after passing the state exams. Quit all the side work last year. Slap burned out working 16 hour days. Now I'm going to college at night and taking some online courses in management to focus on my day job advancement. (Been with the company 17 years)

Anybody else burning the candle at both ends?

Yep, burned out at my Day job been here five years and Im ready to move on. I hope to be out of here in 2-3 years. In fact I turned down a promotion making more money, less work but it would interfere with my class schedule.

I thought of and did side jobs (not tractor related) but I have one goal and thats to finish school anything else will slow me down, Good luck.

Dad and I both have side jopbs here. we run a wood waste land fill for Tiffing motor homes and 2 other plants that are partners in it. We do most of their site work and such now we even do it after work. I have a back hoe and excavator, dump truck and a tractor and dad has 2 tractors and with finish mowers and a backhoe and loader set up on one. we take care of a 17 lot for a fellow then several smaller lots. I even do a few machineshop jobs in my private shop. Now my older brother quit his job and is starting back out in the construction business again so Ill spend the rest of my free time helping him lol. I figure thats like having free access to a master operator plus i get paid and have a 2:30 ice cream break lol.

Growing up I was forced to help with the family rentals. Not my idea of fun, but I did learn a few things from it.

After the Marine Corp, I delivered overnight mail for one of the big companies. I was a union steward and making $70K a year in California. But that's not enough to live on there, so I was working weekends for friends and friends of friends. Remodels, repairs and upgrades to their homes.

After a dozen years of that, I'd had enough! Moved to Texas and figured I was gonna work for McDonalds or something, but no more stress and living in a place I was struggling just to survive.

So far, no regrets.

I work 12 hour days 3 or 4 days a week at a semi conductor fab. Then I spend the rest of my time fixing and improving our chicken and livestock farm. My wife takes care of most of the daily farming but I always have 10 projects waiting.

I'm on call 24/7, but my hours at work are supposed to be 4 - 10's.............HA!

What weekends I do get are spent on our country property and/or the neverending honey-do list............

Used to work on unusual or exotic cars on weekends for people I knew, made good money too, but don't have time anymore................
