That is some kind of tractor wheel weight with a piece of railroad iron inside. I'm not sure what it weighs but it seemed to be enough.

Looks like it comes with it's own built in agitator.

Thanks Guys all your comments means so much. I have worked on this side mower for about a solid month and have about $450 cash in it. I have only gotten to mow with it for 8 hrs. or so. It has taken longer to build than I will get to use it this year.
It kind’a looks like an old Red Wasp. Don’t you think?

Oh, yes! That's just what I could use to mow both sides of the drainage ditch along the road in front of my place. Using a weed whacker or 20" push rotary gets stale fast. I thought about getting one of the new generation "Flymos" {HERE} or {HERE} but that should probably be a new thread.
