Derek,

A disk mower will work to if its just grass. These do not respond well to brush and they are expensive. But it will cut better than a sickle any day.

Good new is they stick out 6-9 feet depending on the model for a wide cut, and the cut very cleanly.
Also little chance of clogging.
Bad news is they are expensive and require some weight to handle.

Most models have a hydraulic lift to adjust the angle.

Maybe find an old one at a farm sale? Although repairs are expensive.
