[It may just be my poor choice in browsers, but long threads really slow me down. Hence, this continuation]

I recently saw an L2500 at a rental store near me and they are quite a bit bigger than I thought.

Ya gotta remember, Fishman, that my signature pict is not full scale. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I have daughters, who do some mighty pretty oil paintings

Well, Bird, I was afraid to mention it on this message board for he-man (and she-women) tractor owners, but I, too, have been hooked by the oil painting bug. Now, I still claim to have no artistic talent, but I got hooked on a Saturday morning PBS show called , "The Joy of Painting", with Bob Ross. For nearly two years I was mesmerized by how easily he could slap paint on canvas and produce something I would be honored to hang on my wall. He would do it less than half an hour, and he claimed than virtually anybody could learn his techniques in almost no time.

Had to give it a try. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

It's been a couple of years since I've had the spare time to pursue it any more (it takes me up to 6 hours per painting), but, as is my nature, I did put together this web page.

Show Off./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I knew you could do well with computer graphics, but if you can do that with a paint brush, you shouldn't need a computer./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Those are some mighty pretty pictures, and Bob Ross claimed than virtually anybody could learn. That's because he hasn't met me. I think you must have some talent to start with, and I'd say you started with quite a lot.

Harv,

No talent.....I don't believe that for a second. Nice work. Must be very satisfying /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. Slap a turkey in one and we'll auction it off at our next NWTF Banquet!

Don't want to argue with you here, Bird, but I insist I'm no more artist than you are! If you've never seen the show, you owe it to yourself to give it a look. If nothing else, it's a very soothing thing to watch, and you'll be amazed at how simple the technique is. Heck, some of the brushes he uses look like the sort of thing you'd paint your barn with. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

You've already got two things going for you -- good hand skills and an excellent eye for colors. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I think you and Cliff should both give it a shot! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Then I am sunk in this department. I am color blind. I KNOW I can't do this, and nobody could convince me otherwise....

Like GlueGuy, I'm convinced I couldn't do that. Goodness knows I tried in my younger days. And now, even if I thought I could, I don't know when I'd find time to do it./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Don't be so sure, Bill -- as near as I can tell, there' a lot of recording "artists" doing just fine out there who seem to be tone deaf. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

don't know when I'd find time to do it.

That part I understand, Bird. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
