Jeff:
I an glad you brought this up. I am reworking a 1931 Lodge and Shipley lathe and need to repair a broken boss in the apron. I was going to use high nickle rods, but then I decided to try to remember how to braze it with oxy/ac just for practice; but I think I wlll find some silicon bronze rods and give them a try; the result can't be much worse than with my rusty OA skills.
Weldermike: those welds look pretty good. Any hints on welding grey cast iron (in addition to the usual clean, clean, clean, preheat, and peen)?
