Silly question, do I need to press in the clutch to go from forward to reverse?

I have a DK45SE that I mostly use for mowing with a shuttle shift transmission. I was just watching a youtube video that explained that with a power shift transmission you don't need to press in the clutch to go from forward to reverse. I had been pressing it every time.

Do I need to?

According to Tractordata.com, that model is a synchronized shuttle-shift as opposed to hydraulic or power shuttle-shift, so you need to clutch to change directions. We have both types.

YES. The shuttle shift is NOT power shuttle. If you try to move the shuttle lever without the clutch, you will quickly ruin something. On the DK shuttle shift, the clutch must be pressed to change direction, gears and range.

lol, that was actually the exact part of the video I just watched that led to the confusion.

to add to the confusion I had a ck35 gear trans. Stepping on the clutch was just killing my knee. I learned I had a two stage clutch. I only had to lightly step down on the clutch pedal partially. Not all the way down.
What a difference that made.
