I have a Fermec/Terrex 650 skip loader with a few leaking hydraulic hose that I'm aware of. I would like to take care of the small problem before it becomes a big problem.

I don't know anything about hydraulics.

So how do I de-pressurize these hose before attempting to remove them?

Any tips on removing them?

THanks!

Just relaxing all the cyl is a good start, by putting the valve handles through full motion, should relieve any pressure. Keep in mind that heat can build in a circuit and build some pressure.

Certain pieces of equipment have a hyd accumulator, that stores fluid under pressure, so just be aware of this. It is used to apply brakes or release brakes, or spin hyd starters, etc.

Use a rag over the fittings when removing. Safety glasses, etc.

Like JJ says...
You will probably find that one end (at least) of the hose has a turnable fitting, the other is attached firmly to the hose. Loosen the turnable one first.

Always use a piece of cardboard when detecting hidden leaks. Placing a piece of cardboard in front of a leak is better than injecting high pressure hyd. oil into yor hand. This has happend and results in serious surgery to remove the oil.

Obvious note: Do what J_J suggested with stopped engine.
