I only use my PHD infrequently and have been storing it on the ground without the auger - have two of those but seem to always use 6". It is always a real bear to rehook it - never look forward to that - sometimes I will dig the holes by hand if I only have a couple to dig.
Anyway, I have reviewed the threads here regarding PHD stands and storage options, but am still looking for the very best and simplest way to store it so it will be easy to unhook and rehook in place. I usually take the auger off first and am OK with doing that in order to put it down easily. I will likely just put a couple of 4x6s in the ground with a cross piece and chain as the other threads mention that the ability to swing/move the PHD really aids in the hook up.
Then I came across this youtube video which is about as simple a solution as I have seen, though perhaps not as movable - or as easy to swing into position as a cross beam and chain. Still trying to decide which way to go. I have the trees, tarp and straps already around here. And have an old power pole I can cut down and put into the ground in a convenient location. Thoughts re cross beam and chain vs strapping to a post - what might I not be thinking about re either?
