simplicity 5216 hydrostatic

hi everyone I'm new to the forum. a friend of mine just gave me a old simplicity 5216 hydrostatic. it has been sitting in a barn for a long time his dad told him the only thing wrong with it was the alternator on it was bad. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet been working 90hrs a week lately. but my question is. does this thing have an alternator I'm not sure it does could it have a generator/starter or a stator?

I'm thinking it has a stator and just a dedicated starter, I have my Dad's 1987 5216 that I'm working on right now. I know the headlights are powered from a lighting coil as they get brighter as the engine revs. At and idle, they are very dim, yet the battery still gets charged. I'm still getting used to it.

it does have a stator the only thing wrong was a bad solenoid. I changed that put in a new battery and it started right up. I check it with my multiple-meter and it's charging fine
