Simplicity diesel Legacy XL tractor

( Simplicity are very dear for what you are getting. If you want a real tractor & don't want to spend too much, why not look at Kioti or Mahindra. You will at least be getting a beefy tractor versus a almost tractor. The Simplicity XL in their own literature call it a GARDEN tractor. To me it looks more like an overgrown riding lawnmower.

From the implements you are considering, believe me, if you go simplicity you will just be selling down the road for something larger.

The Xl is a real tractor. Simplicity practically invented the subcut market many moons ago. Some of their older machines like the Simplicity Powermax are great workhorses. The Legacy XL is a subcut size machine and will do any task any other subcut will do. They are great little tractors and for someone that has a samll amount of acreage and needs to mow and move gravel and mulch around they are one of the best in my opinion. The ergonimis are top notch. Loader goes on and off without leaving your seat. etc. Just a well designed machine. Loader capicity is roughtly equal to the other subcut machines. None equal the Simplicity as a mowing machine.

For this particular application however, I would buy a slightly larger machine. Something like the Kubota already mentioned would probably be a better suited tractor for a landscaper.

aesanders,

I agree with most of your points but one. I do not class the XL as a sub-compact......at least not compared to pretty much the rest of the pack. I also have an ACCO Allis which is from the simplicity line (I believe). It is a tuff little (dare I say it)tractor & does a great job cutting the lawn. Even when I used to snow-blow with it it did a decent job for its size. But for serious work it just doesn't cut it. It would take you forever to do anything. To me, for the physical size of the XL, the HP is overkill. It just does not have the weight or mechanical robustness. Just like my little 14 HP ACCO, I cracked the frame on it pulling a lawn roller filled with water. Plenty of power....no problem there but just not built strong enough for what I was trying to do.

Simplicity does classify their Legacy as a subcompact.
I would also classify it as a subcompact, shoot it has more lifting capacity than the Kubota bx.

Hi,

Well, if you check Carvers, you can find then BX2350 with a
60" deck and 48" loader for $12865 or the BX1850 with 54" deck and 48" loader for $11500.
Also has other specials under Kubota.
Depends on how far you want to go to get what is best value.

Later and best of luck

And it weighs as much as the BX, and has a backhoe like the BX, and will use all the BX attachments (except their proprietary backhoe mount), etc., etc., etc.

Hi Vic - Out of curiosity - what would you consider "the rest of the pack"? I've been trying to figure out where the XL fits in the tractor nomenclature. As folks here have said, it's got the same weight/strength/capacities as the Kubota BX, which most folks consider a sub-cut.

Back to the OP- I would recommend spending $700 on a ROPS as it doesn't come with one standard. Also, you should be able to find a box scraper for a lot less than what you have listed (I think I paid $350 for mine including shipping). As a Legacy XL owner, I have been doing all the things (except the tilling and PHD, but I have been using the backhoe) you want to do, and I have been very happy with it's performance.

Thanks,
Greg
