Are you saying this was MORE than an x540? I have just recently been looking into them... hopefully in the next year or two. I was first considering an x540 as well. Seems like deere, simplicity, and kubota are the only serious garden tractors left, and even kubota may not be in the same league. What happened to cub and toro/wheelhorse?

Yes it was $600 more than the price I was quoted on the X540. So far I really like the Simplicity over the John Deere I had, the commercial deck is a little more noisy than the JD but it gives an excellent cut and I always wear earplugs when mowing anyway. I just now got 5 hours on the new mower(due to a couple, umm... accidents) so I look forward to some more seat time.
