single or double grapple????

Been thinking of getting a add on grapple for the loader on my B2630 Kubota. I can't figure out if I need the double thumb or the single. Any expierience on both would be app. Thanks

If I were to put one on, it would be a single. Be it for brush or logs, one would do me fine. Might be some argument for double so there would be more stiffness and less racking because of it's design.

Am seriously thinking of a single for my forks.

What are your intended uses, or needs? That would be important to your decision.

No question in my mind. You already have limited lift capabilities with that machine-so don't add weight you don't need.

I have a double grappler, The double gives you a better bite in my opinion when your picking up trees or limbs that aren't proportionate .I haven't had mine long but buddies told me it was must and I agree.You'll have to add a valve and I suggest get the switch to operate the grappler on the joystick.The cost can vary from the different dealers and make sure they have installed them before .So there's no issues.

If you had a 3000+ pound lift on your FEL, I'd say get the stoutest double you can find. As it is, I would recommend a light duty single, they are tougher than you'd expect and every pound you save on the grapple is one more pound you can lift.

I'll be using it on brush, small logs, and multiflora rose..Just wondering with the grapple in the center of the bucket and not out at the ends how well it will work..thanks

I use a narrow rake and single grapple, works great. I just aim at the center of what I want to pick up, close the grapple and away I go. Works with logs, brush, rocks etc. I think if you were picking up trash a double full lenght grapple would be helpful. With brush, my grapple lifts about three times the width of the rake and the single keeps in loaded when I move.

I think that the stability of your tractor and capacity of your FEL is going to have much more to do with your success than width or number of grapples.

The weight difference isn't much, you'd be fine going with either choice.

i have a single 66" model and wish i had bought a double. too many times i have lost some of my load or it shifts a little with the single.

Given the size of your tractor I would stick with a 48" grapple with a single thumb. I don't think the the extra width gains you that much more capability unless you moving a lot of long logs. I move fairly good size longs around with my 48" Markham with no problem. After a few trys you get the nack of how to pick them up and balance your load. Remember, the more your grapple weighs, the less material you will be able to lift.
