The reason for any test is to get an answer of unknown information. It is real simple, sisal baling twine will be used in the operation of baling hay. It will not be used in the cities or in manufacturing. Sisal baling twine will be used in traditional hay areas. The hay production data is available from a hundred different sources. I was just trying to help the small guy save a hundred or two by acting quickly and purchasing before the price increase.

Mark thanks for your information. What you say is exactly true. Even if you produce 10,000 bales a year it still wouldn't make you but maybe a few hundred dollars in profit. Absolutely no big profit potential here guys. Mark was just passing along some insider information.

Hmm, I may have to get out and buy some. Our baler didn't tie really well on plastic and I hate handling plastic!

CCI, I didn't doubt your intentions for a minute. I'm sorry if I gave you that impression. I was just commenting on human nature. Whenever there is a perceived product shortage, people tend to stockpile it even if they have no desperate need for it. In this case I don't see any real benefit to you. If people stockpile this month, it's just that much longer before they reorder.

I do grant you though that I can be a little cynical at times. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

</font><font color="blueclass=small">( markct,
I'm really going to sell allot of twine on the net when a bale of twine weighs 40+ LBS. Logistically this is a low value to weight product that does not return profits unless I was selling tractor trailer loads of twine to one customer. Just how many customers on TBN have that kind of usage? All the twine we sell is within 50 miles of us. How could I increase our sales when I admitted we do not have a supplier yet or any inventory in our warehouse? Why are you so cynical?

my post was kinda half joking anyhow, i can tell ya didnt take it that way. but either way you say that your not gona sell twine online, well yea i wouldnt figure ya would, what im saying is that it wouldnt surprise me if this was one of those rumors that gets going around and then everybody buys twine like crazy, expecting to resell it or whatever. like someone else said how the rumor of a shortage can clear the shelves as fast as an actual shortage especialy when ya use the wording "buy all you can now" and i have seen simular posts from people on other boards

And sometimes a real shortage soon results in an overabundance. Witness the tomato shortage caused by last years hurricanes. The prices shot up. So many people began producing tomatoes that now there are too many and they are trying to find ways of getting rid of them.

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the "heads up" on baler twine. Don't understand why some felt a need to pile on.

TK,

Go back an read CCI's first post. It sounded like a sales pitch to me. If CCI had added the information from his later posts in the first post it would have changed peoples understanding of what he was saying and why. Simple communication issue.

I had read of a shortage of Sisal somewhere but did not have a clue as to why I would care. From CCI's follow on posts I now know what Sisal is used for and I know that I don't need to buy any since I don't have hay to bale. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The farm boys knew. Also know that it is quite heavy for shipping, not economical to to save $10 a bale.

Thanks CCI.
