Regretably, Sitrex has a web site but does not list a Chisel Plow in their products listings. Hay King on the other hand does under HayKing.com the one I'm looking at is a 7 shank vs the Sitrex 9 shank, the Sitrex is unique in that its built out of nut and bolts type construction with 2 great big coil springs connected to each shank rather then spring steel shanks like most of them. The decision is the Sitrex is $850 the Hay King is $1150. The Sitrex has no less then 100 nuts and every shank has zerc fittings and multiple moving parts and the Hay King if you look at the web site is 4 x 4 tubing tool bars and solid mount spring steel shanks nothing to maintain or loosen. They both look like they would do the job and in some ways since I'm plowing in very rocky country in unplowed valleys the Sitrex appears well suited although its made in Italy so parts could be a problem and none of it is anything you could find to replace parts for except the points and the moving parts are subject to abuse and wear. Where the Hay King is Made in USA and in Temple, Texas a couple of hundred miles from here and the parts if I did break anything are all something you could pick up at any good farm store.
What do you guys think? Has anyone ever owned a Sitrex Chisel Plow? The Sitrex is $300 cheaper but looks like I could easily eat that up in parts over several years if parts were even available otherwise I'd be at the machinist having parts tooled. Go with the traditional Chisel plow by Hay King or the more modern one by Sitrex?

Well I decided after talking to Ken Sweet to go with the Hay King, it is a Hoss, the Sitrex unit just had to many things to go wrong with it for such a simple machine. The Hay King was demoed with sweeps instead of chisels so the Saleman thru in the extra set of sweep points as well. It also came rigged as a cat 2 implement so its much heavier than the brand new ones from Hay King. I tested it out this morning and even with no rain in 6 months I'm turning over clods as big as a dog house so penetration is no longer an issue although discing the clods into a seed bed is going to be a bear I'd bet. I wish we had a little rain to speed up the process but I'm stearing with one hand and lifting the disc when I get to bigga bite with the other so I'm all outa hands to wish in and soon the manure will be in the field instead of the other. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
