I am not certain, but I think my joy of having all this seat time will eventually fade, but as for now it is still all new and fun!

Gary, I agree with all that you said, except that at least with the tractor, it is very easy, as members have suggested, to just reverse the plow and use the back side of the blade. Now, that being said, it may be very easy to do this with a truck as well but I have never used one so I don't know.

At last, thank you. These last few days I have been left scratching my head and wondering if I was the only one that wouldn't get any pleasure from plowing snow. Come on guys, it's snow ... which means it's cold out there. Luckily it's not a problem I'll have to face in East Texas.

I hate to say this but it was 70 degrees yesterday. I tilled my garden last week and I'll be picking up the compost today and tilling it in. Got to get ready for planting come March. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Sorry guys, you can keep that snow plowing.

I've posted several times in the last few weeks how happy I am that I'm not anywhere NEAR that white stuff. One freezing cold winter in New York City was enough to turn me away from it forever! I'm glad to see you don't like it either. Of course, a lot of posters have only been joking about how much they "love to plough snow!" John

That's where that skill thing comes into the picture.
I have plowed with a pickup and plow for thirty years and have seen some real messed up dirt driveways and yards from operators that didn't quite understand the cause and effect of the plow and nonfrozen dirt.
Even that being said I still have an afternoon of plow damage to repair every spring. It took me three and a half hours to plow the drive way with the turnaround area and around the barn last week end after the 14" we got. Today we will get another 8" so I get to spend another couple hours tonight after work doing it again.
The good news is it is dry snow that the truck can't even feel and the groung is frozen like solid rock so no need to baby anything.
Right now the Harley in the garage is saying is this stuff ever going to end?

I suggest that you and the rest of the people that seem to enjoy the " seat time " would be a huge market for a TBN snow bucket. This bucket would be different from the other type of snow buckets for front end loaders as it would be HALF of the size of a regular size bucket and thus would provide more of the precious seat time.
I gotta tell ya that I have a spankin new JD 4320 that will never see snow removal duty as long as the F-250 with an 8 foot plow is here.
I guess that I have lived in snow country too long to feel that moving snow with an open tractor in less than 10 Deg. temps is in anyway enjoyable. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif But that being said you guys enjoy your fun. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif )

Heck, half the time I go skiing, I'm out all day, in frigid temps and blowing snow, hauling butt down the mountain dealing with that wind chill, then sitting on the chair lift high in the air going through horizontal blowing snow and paying for a $50+ lift ticket to do it, and it's called fun. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As far as I'm concerned, if my driveway has to be plowed, I'm gonna enjoy it, even when it's 2* below zero. Then when I'm done, I'll try to get my wife's ATV fired up and go out and play on that for a while, and maybe even tow the kids around on their sleds. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Skiing is definately my favorite winter sport. That being said, a few years ago I went to Banff to go skiing and the temps were at the base were 10-12 below and at the top of some of the lifts it was -28, and that is without the wind chill. Now that was a little ridiculous! As for plowing the snow, I must admit I really enjoyed the full 2+ hours it took, except when I almost slid the tractor down a hill while trying to avoid some moron driving down the street who either was being a jack*** or was simply not paying attention and almost hit me!
